Our Water Resources Mission:

"Preserve and enhance the water resources in Spokane County watersheds for the benefit of present and future generations."

The Water Resources department addresses the water quality and quantity issues within the District's boundaries. We provide technical assistance, information and education, and implement projects to protect, enhance and maintain the natural resources in Spokane County.

The Water Resources department leads, facilitates, and participates in many planning and implementation projects throughout the county, such as:

  • Water Quality Cleanup Plans
  • Shoreline Riparian Restoration Projects
  • Bioengineering Stabilization Projects
  • Watershed Planning
  • Fish Barrier Removal Program
  • Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring Program

Landowners in Spokane county may be able to access funding for the development and implementation of management practices to protect water quality. Eligible practices include grassed waterways and sediment basin Best Management Practices (BMP’s). Call Charlie Peterson at (509) 535-7274 to check on the availability of funds or to schedule a free on-site consultation.
