The Production Ag Department is currently working with producers in Spokane County to maximize profits while maintaining environmentally friendly farm practices. Each Production Ag program provides a unique form of assistance to producers in the county for maintaining certain conservation practices on their farms.

Production Ag programs include:

  • Promotion of conservation tillage and direct seeding operations, including a low-interest loan program to assist producers with the purchase of equipment
  • Education on a variety of conservation farming practices
  • Assisting in the establishing of a viable oilseed production industry
  • Dairy producer assistance
  • Development of conservation farm plans
  • Grass and cereal grain straw utilization research
  • Conservation farming workshops and tours

Highlights of the Production Ag Program:

Conservation tillage and direct seeding - Benefits of these farming practices include improved soil fertility, reduced erosion, water quality protection and reduced farming costs. Low-Interest Loan Program - This program offers low interest loans for eligible producers to help with direct seeding operations as well as straw removal alternatives.
Oilseed Production - The Production Ag Department at SCCD is working with local producers and farmer-owned cooperatives in the Pacific Northwest to make oilseeds a viable industry in our region.

The Production Ag Department is committed to helping producers
in Spokane County with their conservation needs.
